What, like little sister-ly feelings? [... She ends up shrugging, shaking her head.] Maybe! Weird, but... maybe. Maybe I'm just so used to being a little sister that it just happens.
[Still weird.
She blinks at the input from Baymax, before...]
Well... no, I guess I haven't really told him either. I haven't gotten the chance.
[She shrugs, a little self-consciously.]
It feels a little weird to... you know, just go up to him like "It's okay, you can treat me like a little sister, Naoki!"
If you've been nothing but the little sister for your entire life, probably. [A beat.] Some people treat me like a younger brother here and I'm not sure what to make of it either. It's kinda nice and kinda weird but Tenka has the opposite problem Naoki does.
[But he likes Tenka so it's fine.] At least if you're weird about it it'll break the tension and make it less awkward. [A beat.] Oooor it'll make it even more awkward and Yang has to do damage control. But seriously, doesn't he live here or something? It's not a bad idea.
Huh... you mean he's too big brotherly? Like a no boundaries sort of person?
[What a weirdo.]
But yeah, he does now! And... he's really nice and everything, and it's nice having him around... and he makes me pancakes sometimes! So--yeah, I guess you're right. I should just let him know somehow.
[Oops.]
I've never had to do something like this before, I'm still figuring it out.
He's already calling himself my aniki, but I think Tenka just does that to people he likes. [Who knows how these things work.]
Pancakes are important. [Sage nod.] It couldn't hurt. I think a lot of us are still figuring out how these things work and how families and friends communicate in a place like this. [There's a pause as he casually starts doodling on a corner of their game board.] I'm still kinda getting used to living with Tadashi again. I don't really let him know how glad I am that we're together again but I think it's just awkward to talk about. So...at least talking to Naoki will be easier than that.
But yeah, I guess I could see how that would be...awkward. Um. [She frowns a little. She hadn't thought about it before, but now she feels bad for Hiro a little. It's great that Tadashi is here, but it still has to be hard...]
Well... you know. If it ever gets to be a lot or if you ever need a break, you can always just...come over here for a bit.
[Judging by the fact he's staring at the paper and he's busy drawing microbots, it's definitely awkward and hard and weird and he doesn't know how to bring it up to the person it should be mentioned to. He has his brother back and that's the most important part, weirdness aside.
Still, he looks up at Ruby's offer and tilts his head ever-so-slightly, like he's not sure what to make of it.]
...thanks, Ruby. I know I can't keep running away from it but it's still not the right time to tell him everything. So...yeah. I might take you up on that. [He grins slightly then.] But what about if I just wanted to come over to see you?
[She won't press him on it; she figures that someone figuring out how to deal with their dead brother suddenly coming back to life will take some time. It's... only natural, really.
Instead, she grins at him when he accepts her offer and then he continues and... she blinks in surprise. Almost embarrassedly so, really, because it takes her a distinct moment to recover.]
... Huh?
[FOCUS, RUBY... even though she definitely felt her heart skip a beat there, maybe she ate something bad, that's definitely it.]
I mean--duh. If you want to come visit me, then you should just come visit me! We're friends, that's what friends do.
[Sorry, Ruby, Hiro…actually knows exactly what he's doing for once. It's with a startling sort of clarity that he's able to navigate this conversation with some sense of calmness despite the fact his heart rate's skyrocketing at the idea of her calling him on any wayward intentions. Or whatever.]
Some of us didn't have a lot of friends, remember? [There's a teasing little lilt to his tone.] Figured it was probably better to give you a heads up than just be like "hey you're one of my favorite people to spend time with and I want to hang out with you when we both have free time." [Though there's that, too. Eheh. Anyway.] But the same goes for you when you're off house arrest. You know Tadashi, I don't think he'd care if you came over whenever. We don't have a corgi, but we have a cat. [Wait does Ruby like cats? Why doesn't he know that? Suddenly he's talking too much and he's just going to stop now.]
[He knows exactly what he's doing and he's still doing it...that's terrible. Hiro slow your roll. You're making her heart skip a beat here, she wasn't prepared. Especially when he just carries on, like "hey you're one of my favorite people" like--who allowed that?
It's just a mutter, almost poutingly--]
Not fair, totally not fair!
[And then, louder:]
I like cats. Cats are good. I definitely want to meet your cat. What's his name? Is he a chubby cat? Chubby cats are cute.
[At least she's equally motormouth when she's nervous like this.]
[He hears the mumbling and just fixed her with a perplexed little look before deciding it's better not to ask. She's sick. Maybe she has feverish symptoms anyway without the fever.]
His name's Mochi and he's almost as big as Zwei. [Okay maybe not that big.] We've had him since I was little. I was taking him around yesterday to visit some people. Come over some time, he'll probably be nicer to you than he is to me.
I don't think I'm wrong, but in this case it's because he's always nicer to other people. Mochi likes me and he likes his rocket boots, but sometimes I think he's affectionate with other people just to try and prove a point.
[Hiro, he's a cat. Still, he's not sure what to say to that because the idea of Ruby paying specific attention to him still always makes his heart jump a bit and there's a slight grin.] I think I'd be pretty offended if you were only there mostly to visit my cat, but…deal. [He rolls his eyes.] Probably should focus on you getting better though.
Why do you think he's fat? [Mochi gets spoiled by all of the Hamadas. Still, there's something nice about knowing he's having a direct impact on her but he can't quite meet her eyes on that. It's great and embarrassing and wonderful and confusing and why can't everything be as simple as tic-tac-toe. Seriously.]
In that case I'll have to keep coming back until you get better. [Or until the ghosts show up and fuck everything up.] ...if Yang lets me.
[She sure does know. Yang probably knows more than the two of them do themselves and it's something Hiro's vaguely aware of without quite touching on the real subject. Still. They're not running around the colony like they're prone to doing, so this totally counts as resting.]
This is sorta why I'm glad I never had an older sister. I can deal with Tadashi being a huge nerd but I draw the line at weird. Did you ask her what's up?
...riiight. Got it. [He's definitely not going to ask about the weird things. Instead, he's assessing their game board before filling in one more square.] I win. Sorry. [He's not sorry at all. But it's better to do that and move past the weird stuff than dwell on it, he thinks.]
[He ends up laughing, turning the page in his notebook and making an even bigger game grid for them.] All right, all right. We'll do best two out of three.
[If this is how he's going to spend his afternoon? Then so be it. He can deal with this.]

[Ruby has totally done this with Zwei because she's Ruby.
She smiles at that, though, and completely pleased and contented expression. Honestly? That's not even a concern for her.]
I am getting better. I'm feeling a little better already, just from you coming over.

[Sage nod. DON'T ASK.]
