She's a huge motivation to that though because he knows she's right and he has to really get it in his head that people won't leave and that not all people are scary. The nerds from the lab back home weren't scary. Ruby's not scary either. It's a learning process of getting close to people without the fear that they'll be ripped away without warning, too.
